What's your Dosha?

In Ayurveda there are three main doshas or energies that govern the physiology. Each is associated with the elements found in nature and their characteristics. And while everyone has all three doshas, your individual body constitution (prakruti) is based on the predominance of the following doshas.

Vata is correlated with air and space and is responsible for any and all of the transportation or movement in the body. So whether it's physical movement such as walking or the brain sending signals to and from the rest of the body.

Pitta is associated with fire and water and is responsible for any and all metabolism in the body. Now when we think of metabolism, we think of the belly. Yes pitta is responsible for digestion. However it is also responsible for the breakdown of all sensory input. The sights that we see, the music we listen to, the relationships we hold.

And lastly, Kapha is correlated with earth and water. Kapha makes up the gross physiology. ie. muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, etc.
